The Lech barrage Ellgau is a barrage of the river Lech between Augsburg and Marxheim and is located at the river kilometre 17,1 in the area of the municipality Thierhaupten in the administrative district Augsburg. The run-of-river power plant is has a capacity of 9.7 MW using two Kaplan turbines. The power plant has been in operation since 1952.

The river Lech is a right tributary of the river Danube. The 256 km long river rises in Vorarlberg and flows through Tyrol and southern Bavaria, where it flows into the Danube. Shortly before the Austrian-German border it takes up the Vils, forms the artificial Lechfall before Fuessen and crosses Swabia and Upper Bavaria on its way. The largest cities on the Lech are Landsberg and Augsburg, where it receives its largest tributary, the Wertach. At Marxheim, the river empties into the Danube.
