BAUER Fundaciones Dominicana, S.R.L. has been awarded by the Consortium Montegrande formed by the Brazilian company Andrade Gutierrez and the Dominican company SERVINCA a contract to construct a plastic concrete cut-off wall with varying depths under the axis of the future Montegrande dam located in the western part of the Dominican Republic. To construct the 30,000 m² impermeable barrier, BAUER deployed the most advanced technology in special foundations equipment.

The construction of the 800 mm wide and up to 30 m deep cut-off wall started in May 2019 with an anticipated duration of 6 month. One BAUER MC96/BC40 cutter unit and two rope grab units are being used beside the necessary mixing and de-sanding equipment.

The dam is a multipurpose project providing flood control and allowing the use of the water resources of the Yaqué del Sur River for irrigation purposes. In addition, future installation of turbines for 18MW power generation is foreseen.
